Glass Night

Mon, Sep 25, 2017 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

1964 Korando Ave, Overland, MO 63114, USA

Glass Nights Luckie’s Shop Every 2nd and 4th Monday from 5-9pm 1964 Korando Ave 63114 715-498-3642 / magikokapi2@hotmail.com or Facebook

The Plan I’m opening my glass shop to people wanting to learn/practice/work on glass projects. I and Isen are willing to teach any of the glass techniques that I know (stained glass, lampworking, enameling, etc.). Everyone is welcome, however a call or email beforehand if you are coming would be appreciated (especially if I know what you want to work on- I can have those tools/materials ready).

Fees for materials- will be charged based on projects chosen & materials used. If you have your own tools/material, they are more than welcome. I should have most stuff people will want to use, but odd requests (like gold, boro glass, dichroic glass, etc.) will most likely have to be order & will take time.

Please bring a pair of sturdy shoes (no sandals or flip-flops). Also, please wear clothes that can get dirty/torn/burned etc.

Populace Meeting

Wed, Sep 27, 2017 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Sutton Loop Park, 2815 Sutton Blvd, Maplewood, MO 63143, USA

In case of inclement weather:
Immaculate Conception Gym, 2934 Marshall Avenue, Maplewood MO, 63143

Arts & Sciences Activity of the Week:

Fighting

The Barony holds weekly populace meetings every Wednesday. Weekly meetings are open to the public. Feel free to just show up if you want to learn more about the Society for Creative Anachronism. About 50 to 100 people attend weekly meetings, so if you are new, be sure and speak up. We might miss you in the crowd. Fighter Practice and Dance Practice are usually held in conjunction with weekly meetings. Feel free to join in, or at least ask lots of questions. You will see people wearing medieval clothes, or what we call garb. It is not necessary to wear garb to attend weekly meetings, but if you would like to borrow some, just ask. We usually wear garb to promote a more medieval atmosphere, but we were all new once too, and we all borrowed clothing and other accoutrements from near total strangers to get started. So don't be shy- come to meeting!

Business meeting for the Baronial populace, all welcome. Open to the public. Includes fighting, dance practice, and classes.

Contact: seneschal@b3r.org

All are welcome for dinner, drinks, and socializing at Olympia,1543 McCausland Ave, St Louis, MO, after meeting.

Documentary Premiere

Thu, Sep 28, 2017 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Center for Global Citizenship, St Louis University, 3672 West Pine Blvd, St Louis, MO 63108

www.truegaelic.com

Hi everyone, I'd like to invite all of you--our wonderful cast of re-enactors--to come to the VIP reception and screening of True Gaelic: Unearthing Medieval Ireland on September 28 at 5:30 at Saint Louis University.

You battled each other and shed blood for the project (in some cases, literally). Some of you stood in the freezing cold and braved frostbite and ice. Some of you tolerated long, boring studio day(s). Many of you provided authentic period costumes and props, which have brought this story to life.

We hope you can come see yourself on the big screen. And, if so inclined, come in character/costume.

There will be music by the Irish Xiles, dancing, food...and drinks, of course!

Please RSVP to the link below by September 14. Hope to see you there!

ALSO - SITE DINNER: Current Menu

What is Site Dinner? This is a dinner we hold the first Thursday of every month at the weekly Baronial meeting. It raises money to help pay for our meeting site, and has proven to be an anticipated social evening as well. Every month a different set of volunteers supplies a delicious home-cooked meal. We sell those meals for donations of $5 (or less as suits your budget. We're flexible.) We're also willing to just sell a dessert or a side dish if that's all you want.

The Barony holds weekly populace meetings every Wednesday. Weekly meetings are open to the public. Feel free to just show up if you want to learn more about the Society for Creative Anachronism.
